This program aims not only to provide crucial facts about the prevalence of drug use but also to empower individuals with resources and information to make informed decisions.

 

Additionally, we emphasize the importance of harm reduction, exemplified by the inclusion of information about Narcan.

Program Objectives:

  1. Community Awareness: Disseminate accurate information about the prevalence and risks of drug use among Latino youth.

  2. Resource Provision: Offer resources and support networks for individuals and families affected by drug use.

  3. Harm Reduction Education: Provide education on harm reduction strategies, including information about Narcan for opioid overdose prevention.

Mental Health Awareness  Program Overview

The Mental Health Awareness Program by Events That Benefit is designed to address the unique mental health challenges faced by Latino families.

 

This program seeks to break down cultural stigmas surrounding mental health within the Latino community, providing resources, education, and support for individuals and families.

Program Objectives:

  1. Stigma Reduction: Challenge and reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues within the Latino community.

  2. Education and Awareness: Provide culturally sensitive information about mental health to increase awareness and understanding.

  3. Community Support: Foster a supportive environment for individuals and families dealing with mental health challenges.

Cultural Arts
Program Overview

The Cultural Arts Program by Events That Benefit, celebrating diversity and heritage through free educational dance classes and community events.

 

This program promotes cultural education, celebrates Hispanic heritage through events like Dia de los Muertos, Quinceañera Expo's, and Hispanic Heritage Month, and provides accessible arts education.

Program Objectives:

  1. Cultural Education: Promote awareness and appreciation of Hispanic culture through dance, art, and community events.

  2. Arts Education: Offer free educational dance classes to individuals of all ages, fostering a love for the arts.

  3. Community Engagement: Facilitate events that bring communities together to celebrate and learn about Hispanic heritage.

Reyes Dance Academy Overview

The Reyes Dance Academy is an inspiring youth program designed for girls aged 13-17, providing a holistic experience that nurtures creativity, self-expression, and personal growth. Participants receive training in dance, modeling, and social media, equipping them with the skills to confidently navigate both the performing arts and the digital world.

Through artistic exploration, students develop self-confidence, leadership skills, and a deeper connection to their cultural heritage. The academy fosters a supportive and inclusive environment where youth engage in meaningful community service, mentorship, and performance opportunities.

By integrating cultural awareness, digital literacy, and artistic expression, the Reyes Dance Academy ensures that students gain essential life skills that extend beyond the program. As part of Events That Benefit, the academy is committed to empowering youth, strengthening communities, and promoting cultural appreciation through the arts.

Program Scope & Sequence
The Reyes Academy is structured  program, covering key artistic, leadership, and cultural competencies. Students progress through a sequence of lessons designed to enhance their skills in dance, modeling, social media, and community engagement. The curriculum is divided into four primary focus areas:

  1. Dance & Movement

    • Introduction to various dance styles (Latin, contemporary, hip-hop, traditional cultural dances)

    • Choreography fundamentals and improvisation

    • Performance preparation and stage presence

    • Cultural dance research and presentation

  2. Modeling & Self-Presentation

    • Runway techniques and posture training

    • Public speaking and confidence-building exercises

    • Fashion styling and personal branding

    • Photography and posing for professional shoots

  3. Social Media & Digital Literacy

    • Understanding responsible digital presence

    • Content creation strategies (video, photo, and storytelling)

    • Online safety and digital etiquette

    • Branding and entrepreneurship basics

  4. Community Engagement & Leadership

    • Peer mentorship and group collaboration

    • Volunteer opportunities and service-learning projects

    • Organizing community events and showcases

    • Leadership development workshops

Folklorico as a Complex Art Form: A central aspect of Herencias' mission is to dispel the notion that folklorico is merely a performance. Instead, it is presented as a complex and meaningful art form that intricately weaves together history, culture, and emotion. The goal is to foster a deeper understanding of the art beyond the stage.
